Résidence internationale en arts visuels - chaire parrainée par Souleymane Bachir Diagne.

L’École des beaux-arts Nantes Saint-Nazaire, l’Institut d’études avancées de Nantes, le lieu unique et Nantes Métropole, lancent pour la deuxième fois l’appel à candidature pour la chaire « Arts, société & mutations contemporaines ».

À compter de septembre 2026, un.e artiste professionnel.le international du champ des arts visuels venant des Suds (Afrique, Amérique centrale ou du sud, Asie, Moyen-Orient,Océanie), sera accueilli.e pour un séjour de 6 mois à Nantes.

Cette résidence a pour objectif de croiser les regards sur les mutations contemporaines à travers les arts et les sciences humaines et sociales. Elle entend explorer à travers le croisement des disciplines les changements sociétaux et la place de l’humain dans son environnement.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS UNTIL JANUARY 4th, 2026

The Nantes Saint-Nazaire School of Fine Arts, the Nantes Institute of Advanced Studies, the Lieu Unique and Nantes Métropole are launching for the second time the call for application to the chair "Arts, Society and Contemporary Change".

Starting in September 2026, an international professional artist from the field of visual arts from the South (Africa, Central or South America, Asia, the Middle East, Oceania) will be hosted for a 6-month stay in Nantes.

The aim of this residency is to cross-reference contemporary changes through the arts and the human and social sciences. It intends to explore societal changes and the place of Man in this environment through the crossing of disciplines.

Cette résidence s’adresse aux artistes professionnel.le.s en provenance des « Suds » et ayant au moins cinq ans d'expérience professionnelle, pouvant justifier d'une diffusion et d'une exposition de leur travail (expositions, évènements, éditions, participation à des journées d'études, workshops). Tous les ressortissants (nationalité et domicile) des pays de l’hémisphère sud sont éligibles à l’exception de l’Australie, la Nouvelle-Zélande, le Japon, la Corée du sud et la Guyane.

Applicants

This residency is open to professional artists living and working in the Global South. More precisely, we are targeting artists whose nationality and residency are situated in the southern hemisphere excepting Australia, New-Zealand, Japan, South Corea and Guyane. Applicants are expected to have at least five years of professional experience at the time of the start of their residency, which should be supported through their active participation in public life, the dissemination of their work in an appropriate format such as exhibitions, publications, performances, etc.
